On a guided week of climbing and ice skills with KE Adventure around Mont Blanc we completed a traverse from lift station to lift station; Pointe Helbronner above Courmayeur to Aiguille du Midi, high over Chamonix. It felt a long walk, moving slowly along the ice, four of us tethered together, below the baking sun.

I was on a week of climbing and ice skills with KE Adventures, based around Chamonix. This day we'd got the cable car from Courmayeur up to Pointe Helbronner and then walked across the glacier towards Aiguille du Midi.
The final part of the traverse was an ascent up the Aiguille du Midi arete. With it being late in the season this was a very thin ridge of snow, with one side dropping onto the glacier and the other falling away 2,500m into Chamonix. I focussed on the feet of the guy in front, matching our footsteps to keep the rope between us taut.
